Role | Designer / Job Captain from Concept through Construction
This Classroom Building renovation created one cohesive academic building from three structures built at different times between 1925 and 1968. There were no as-builts. While respecting the historic nature of the oldest building as the face of campus, the design team implemented elements in the new construction that echoed those of the past. The client and design team agreed that the Classroom Building will respect the history of the campus while creating learning spaces to serve future classes.

The founders of Our Lady of Peace were part of a religious order that originated in Le Puy, France. They made their livelihood by making lace. As a nod to the school's origin story, the design team integrated a custom guardrail at the monumental staircase, interior stairs, balconies, and a large feature piece at the entry. A series of mockups were created to review with the client. The design criteria set after these discussions was to have a design that is symmetrical and seamless from panel to panel. Collaboration with the steel sub and metal panel manufacturer was key as the applications varied and the timeline for production was short.
