OFFice tray for caleb

As a birthday present to her husband, Caleb's wife asked me to design a desk phone stand that could be used while charging and could also hold a variety of writing utensils.

The response is a 10 x 6 tray that is sculptural even when not in use. The edge of the 1" red oak is beveled dramatically to give a floating effect and keep focus on the fluted texture of the top.

Functionally, a recess is carved on the underside of the tray to allow for a charging cord to feed to the phone cavity.
